Jaguar F-Type to get manual gearbox and 4WD
19th November 2014
The 2016 Model Year Jaguar F-TYPE Coupé and Convertible range today makes its global motor show debut in Los Angeles. New powertrain and driveline options - including the addition of all-wheel drive and manual transmission models, plus the introduction of an F-TYPE R Convertible - broaden the F-TYPE range from six to 14 derivatives.
The addition of all-wheel drive (AWD), with Intelligent Driveline Dynamics, further extends the F-TYPE's performance capability; with 550PS/680Nm from Jaguar's 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine, both the AWD F-TYPE R Coupé and Convertible are capable of accelerating from 0-60mph (97 km/h) in 3.9-seconds, with a top speed of 186mph (299 km/h) - limited. The AWD option is also available on F-TYPE S Coupé and Convertible models.
To meet the demands of those enthusiast sports car drivers who want the satisfaction of changing gears manually, Jaguar has engineered a six-speed manual transmission option for the F-TYPE. Exclusively mated to Jaguar's 3.0-litre supercharged V6 engine in rear-wheel drive configuration, the manual transmission will be optional on both 340PS and 380PS F-Type and F-Type S Coupé and Convertible models.
Inside it will boast new InControl Touch and InControl Touch Plus infotainment systems which feature fast, intuitive operation and support Apple and Android smartphone connectivity - and even remote engine starts.
The new 2016 model year F-TYPE range goes on sale from Spring 2015.
